Meet Libby Silvia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Libby Silvia.

Every creative professional has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Art is personal. Emotional.  Something we are connected to.  Growing up with a family of artists in the South, I have enjoyed a varied creative career. Yet for the past 17 years, I have explored my passion with art, expanding my career as an art consultant in the Boston area and across New England,  My experience has led me to assist with both residential and corporate projects, I am inspired by space and work closely with my clients to source and place fine art.

Representing a select group of artists from New England and around the country,  I am thrilled to bring their work to this region.  I also work closely with interior designers and architectural firms, understanding the project they are executing and integrating appropriate and unique works to help make each installation special.   I am also available to specific genres and specialized art.

Fine art makes a home feel welcoming, fresh and personal. I am happy to explore existing collections as well, often times reframing and rearranging to update your home and space.

Please tell us about your work.
Working out of my home gallery, clients and designers are welcome to explore work in a special environment….one where they can envision art for their own space. I look to source work which might appeal to variety of tastes and working with the client, bringing work to the home or office to “try-on” as a first step in collecting. With my own art background and own experimentation with various mediums, I am able to consult with the artists as well as they explore and evolve their work, suggesting palette and composition.

There are a few very special artists who have risen to national prominence and I am fortunate to represent in the Boston-New England area….

Eileen Corse, artist from Florida has created quite a following with her bold flowing oil works. Her paintings are alive with movement and her recent Water series include figures at the beach or swimming in play. Very joyful and real pieces with a painterly yet modern~impressionistic style. Popular for commission work as well, for the client to capture the child in all of us. She also paints beautiful landscape and still-life works.

Laurie Fisher works in stunning bold abstract shapes and tones —the richness of the oil is apparent in every original work. The artist’s home on the coast of Maine is a constant backdrop for the fresh and vibrant palette Laurie bring to her paintings.  A strong sensibility of shape, color and design, brings her pieces to life.  Timeless, yet modern for today’s contemporary interiors.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
With social media making everything” in your face” , being true to your work and genre has been the biggest challenge I see. Keep blinders on a bit and don’t get influenced or initiated by what you see or don’t see. Learn from it, and take the best of what we see to continually evolve your work.
Do what you love.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I have found success in staging art openings throughout the year in my Victorian home. Placing work according to palette and appropriate style, the home is filled with 100’s of unique works from the 35 or more artists I represent. It creates a natural flow of work room to room and gives the client a closer look at artwork that can appeal to them in their our home. A live tour…work on the walls and arranged for easy viewing. Client can get a unique perspective as to what might appeal to them in my “home gallery”.

I am also asked to evaluate and place artwork, often working with an existing collection, reframing and replacing work, infusing new pieces to complete and evolve the collection.

Through many client referrals from designers, homeowners, and social media, I have established a following for my curated collection of artists. And I continually look for work that’s unique and collectable for all.
