Meet Kiem Lam and Nickie Le of Bellacquer Nail Studio in Brookline

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiem Lam and Nickie Le.

Kiem and Nickie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Nickie and I found the industry by nature of our background and being surrounded by friends and families who had been in the nail salon business. When Nickie decided she was ready to venture out and build on her vision of the perfect nail studio, I was inspired by her courage to become her best partner. While Nickie focuses on the offerings and recruiting, I went full force on finding the right location and working out all the technicalities to build a nail studio from the ground up. Nickie is the brains and beauty behind what our studio stands for and for training our amazing team, while I focus on everything else that keeps our business running – minus the manicures!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Although there were some bumps in the road when it came to finding the right location and the renovation timeline, however, we mainly felt that this experience was meant-to-be for us. We were able to secure the best physical location and space, recruit an experienced and dedicated team, as well as a loyal following of clients. Of course, we would have wanted all of this to happen faster but in all, we are grateful for our studio and the growing success that we see now.

Bellacquer Nail Studio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are known for our approach to natural nail care and maintenance. We are always looking to learn more about the latest in nail health, fashion and trends, and finding ways to bring all of that knowledge and care to our clients.

With that said, we definitely pride ourselves on the execution of our services from a flawless and long-lasting paint job to our sophisticated nail art creation. We owe the success of our studio to having an amazing and dedicated team of professionals. We recognize that running a successful studio requires not only hard work but more importantly, passionate team members who believe in the vision and setting the industry standards. We also encourage our team to look out for continuing education that speaks to their interest and to bring their learnings back to the team!

Our experience, passion, and focus on building a studio that truly understands expert nail service, safety, and creativity. We have both been in the nail industry for a long time and thus have spent that time honing and developing our craft. The studio encompasses our long time coming vision for a space that captures the art of nail care. No detail was spared in the process. We put a lot of thought into designing our studio from finding the right material to having the best sanitation practice and to building the right team. We want to send the message that we demand excellence when it comes to our clients’ needs.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It was an ordinary day, but I remember it clearly. We had been in business for a few months and it has been slow to start. We expected it – given there were many nail salons within a one-mile radius, plus we had set out to do something different than what you would expect from your neighborhood salon. However, this one day, I woke up to find that we were fully booked!

  • Classic Manicure $18
  • Dazzle Dry Manicure $28
  • Gel manicure $39 ($44 with soak off)
  • Classic Pedicure $38
  • Brows and lip wax $25
