Meet Kelly MacFarland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly MacFarland.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’ve loved everything comedy since I was a kid. I would sneak down to watch Saturday Night Live when I was a kid. I listened to my parent comedy albums. I was exposed to all things funny and silliness was highly encouraged. I’m from a very small town in Maine, and I had no idea how to be a comedian. When I got to my 20’s and went to college, there was one comedy club in town. I tried stand-up and I never stopped. Twenty years later, here I am!

Please tell us about your art.
I’m a comedian. I create, write and perform comedy. Growing up I wanted to be a singer and an actress. I was in dance lessons and was quite a ham. I found comedy early on and loved making people laugh. The world is tough. It’s tough for everyone for many different reasons. I love that I can bring joy to so many people, even if it’s only for an hour. It’s terrific when audiences can relate to me. I try to write comedy that has something for everyone.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
People need a laugh. I’m here to serve. It gives me purpose.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
EVERYWHERE! Check out my two albums on iTunes; Bombshell and You Woke Up Today. Also, I perform all over the US. www.kellymacfarland.com for all things Kelly!
