Today we’d like to introduce you to Josue Valdez.
Josue, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started working as the Chief Engineer and Field Operations Manager at Mass Energy Lab Insulation after completing my Master’s in Construction Management and Civil Engineering. What attracted me most to the team was the fact that we work for owners who really really care about investing in their properties and having the project done right. We have a very educated and passionate team that is a true expert in this realm and that allows us to constant wow our owners with our solutions.
I want to continue to bring sound European Construction principles to our Massachusetts properties. We are high end and in a premium pricing category because of the level of expertise and qualifications we bring to the table. We all have Construction Supervisor Licenses, work directly with the City’s building inspectors on every project and manage each project with a world-class construction management software.
If we give you an install date, we stick with it. If we change the date on your due to a fault of ours, we pay for your premium hotel room. That’s what I love about our team. The level of accountability we put on ourselves. We are self-tyrants!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, its been very smooth. We know who we are and what we want so we know our main focus is alignment. We are big on culture too.
Our team’s as well as our client’s. We understand that we serve a high-end clientele – most of our Boston area clients are in the back bay, beacon hill and the south end so have an entire system of project delivery that just focuses on that. For examples, it’s not uncommon for our preparation team to spend an entire day just protecting the client’s floors and items. Hell, walk into one of our job sites and its a scene straight out of Dexter!
Alignment is our biggest struggle and will remain so. You need to fight every day to manage every detail so that your premium clients are finding you and constantly wowed by what you do. Likewise, you need to fight every day to ensure that you are tapping into the most elite talent level on the market. Team members that are technically sound but also very capable of working for high-end homeowners.
Mass Energy Lab Insulation – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are known as a boutique award-winning home insulation company.
We are known for being extremely knowledgeable and reliable. We hold ourselves accountable as problem solvers and design projects and contracts that deliver specific outcomes. Clients hire us to solve their problem, not just to blow insulation into a wall and they want a turnkey solution. They trust us with their homes and to be around their families and they know that their homes will be safe when they come home.
Domain knowledge in home insulation and construction is what defines us along with the level of responsibility and accountability our team members take on. We protect our homeowners with our licenses, knowledge, and insurance. We have close to $15 million in insurance and our homeowners appreciate that. Almost all of our business comes in through referrals.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
2017 was a big year for us. We won multiple awards for both, customer service as well as installation service. We also created an internal hiring system that is so strong that anybody that doesn’t fit our culture and commit to absolutely wow our clients, is very quickly identified.
This business is a service business. It’s about people. Our high-end homeowners live in multi-million dollar homes. They want people that they can trust. The proudest moments of my career at Mass Energy Lab Insulation has been around building trust to the point that homeowners without our asking, have just as easily had 2-3 of their neighbors contact us. It’s because they understand just absolutely how difficult it is to find amazing home remodeling contractors. Building and maintaining that trust, that’s what every proud moment of my career is built around.
For example, I was recently at a Wegman’s with my wife and I bumped into one of my clients. She smiled instantly upon recognizing although it had been a while and came over to us and gave me one of the warmest handshakes and told my wife what a joy it was to work with me. Now that’s a proud moment!

- Our after sale support is what really blows people away. We offer a two year post install warranty.
- 80% of our clients pay by credit card for points.
