Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi Wilkinson.
Jodi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I start Wilco Marine in 1980 at the age of 20, my first job was restoration of the gondolas at Wildcat Mountain, we started a mobile marine from Maine to New York. Mobile business was an instant hit with customers! We moved to 3 bay facility on rt1 in Newbury so I could be more creative from building molds, custom paint jobs, complete boat restoration, building Ferrari kit cars.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Early days were easy being mobile, our struggles has always been the same year after year, balancing craftsmanship with the hurry up seasons of the east coast. We manage to stay booked up 6 month ahead for the last 5 years.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Wilco Marine Restorations – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our attend to detail is our calling card, Wilco Marine is well known for tackling any restoration for boatyards big or small from major boat builders to everyday boat owner.
I am most proud of my reputation with boat builders working hand to hand fixing and solving warranty issues, all of our customer’s return year after year I’m am really proud of that.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I really love to be challenge so as of late we been doing a lot of custom work, from tribute boats to museum quality restoration, 14ft Ferrari horse, antique amusement rides.
Designing a new race boat.
