Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeannette Detwiler.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been a bit obsessed with elegant fabrics. My Mimi taught me to sew at age 4 and it’s a skill I’ve used throughout my life to make my own dresses. Around the time I was hoping my now-husband would propose I was inspired to combine my loves of design and dress-making and create a collection of wedding dresses for easy, one of which I eventually wore for my own wedding. The bridal collection I have now is an assortment of styles that are luxurious, comfortable, and fit for imaginative brides who want something extraordinary for their wedding day. I also work directly with brides to create unique dresses that are carefully crafted to make them feel they’re most stunning.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are always new challenges with any venture. I’m still figuring out how to achieve some goals, but I thrive on a to-do list. All the brides I’ve worked with have been amazing and I enjoy custom tailoring every project. I love what I do and am so excited about the future.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Wisp Bridal – what should we know?
I design bespoke wedding dresses for brides who want something a little out of the ordinary. Whether it’s an off-beat color or whimsical style, all our dresses are custom creations made to be wearable, graceful, and comfortable. I’m most proud when I get to work one on one with a bride to find something that truly works for them. I currently don’t sell wholesale; I make one dress for one person. I love hand-sewing layers of lace to make a flawless bodice, going above and beyond the scope to add a breathtaking matching veil, and of course, searching for the perfect fabric to make a bride swoon. That kind of attention to detail is hard to find, but I make it my business.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
As I continue this crazy journey, I am incredibly grateful for my husband — who is always my support and my muscle when needed, and my family and friends — who have given me endless love and time as models, advocates, and cheerleaders.
