Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Swett and Sabrina Ewing.
Heather and Sabrina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As families, we had been taking elderberry syrup for years as a natural remedy to prevent colds and flu. Through conversations with friends, people began asking us to make them some. As our requests grew outside of our circle of friends, we realized there was a need for this type of business in our community. We decided we start our business and see how it was received. We were shocked and pleased by the positive response we had immediately.
From there we started to expand with other natural and safe alternatives that we were using. Over the last two years, we have grown to over 65 products which can be found online and in many different local retail stores.
Has it been a smooth road?
Honestly, it’s been pretty smooth. Our real struggle has been teaching ourselves the business end of things. Neither one of us has a business background so learning how to navigate cost to make each item, tracking invoices etc was a struggle for us. Luckily we have some amazing friends who gave us advice along the way.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Cape Cod Home Remedies story. Tell us more about the business.
Our company specializes in all natural and organic health, beauty and wellness products. We focus on using ingredients that are simple, non-toxic and safe. They are ingredients we use on our own families. We have a skincare line that has been increasingly successful and has convinced many people that non-toxic doesn’t have to mean ineffective. We have a line of essential oil blends for a variety of ailments from anxiety to muscle soreness.
We are most proud of being successful in educating people to be more aware of what they are putting into their bodies and offering them an all natural and effective alternative. Our excellent customer service sets us apart from other companies. We truly care about each and every customer and make their satisfaction a top priority.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We only see our industry growing as the public becomes increasingly aware of the dangers of toxic ingredients. Conventional products are causing health and environmental problems.
As more people choose a healthier lifestyle, this industry is going to continue to grow. We hope that a healthy and clean lifestyle will become the norm and not a trend!
