Today we’d like to introduce you to Greta Bajrami Campoverde.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story in construction started in 2011 as I was attending my senior year of college at Worcester State University in Worcester, MA. My dream was to graduate and soon own and operate my very own coffee shop. However, my path and vision changed one winter holiday family party.
A family friend that worked in construction asked me about my coffee shop and why it was going to be so different. When I took the time to explain each detail, he looked at me and said that Is what construction is in need of; owners that have a focus on incredible customer service and perfect details of their work. I enjoyed the conversation and continued on my path. On March 2012, my family friend called me asking if I wanted to work part-time with his construction team. After giving it some thought, I said yes! Working in the office, running sales appointments and visiting job installation made me so passionate about the industry I knew nothing about. I inspected job sites and became apart of the team. I enjoyed the construction process so much that I decided, maybe he was right, maybe My ideas was just what the construction industry was missing.
My entrepreneurial heart and mind saw the possibility of me owning a construction business, with focus on roofing. Golden Group Construction Corp was incorporated that year. A company with exceptional customer service, honesty, and integrity. At first, gaining clients was tough due to no marketing budgets m, so we decided to Be profitable and gain experience and knowledge by becoming subcontractors for bigger companies in our area. The plan worked well, we were able to grow our team of 4 employees up to 10 employees due to the amount of work we were receiving from each general contractors.
After 2 years of working as subcontractors, we knew we had a lot of potentials, and so we decided to raise awareness for Golden Group in our Community. At first, it was tough, we had signed many nondisclosure agreements, meaning we could not give a referral to our clients. Our first customer doing business with our team ad an independent company was Michael. Although we had done over 1000 roof installation, we could not provide him a reference. However, Michael could sense our honesty and integrity and he decided to move forward with our team.
That year we installed our first 20 asphalt shingle roofs. The following year 2015 we installed 160 asphalt roofs, and 2016 we installed 200 asphalt Shingle roofs. This year we will install 250 asphalt Shingle roofs. In the last five years, Golden Group has grown from 4 employees to a. Crew of 15 full-time employees and 10 seasonal employees, received both local and national awards for service and craftsmanship and extended its territory to serve Worcester and middle counties.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think there is a smooth road to success. I believe it’s all about mistakes and perfecting your vision. Yes, the goal is always the same but how we get there changes as we grow and mature with our business.
For me, there have always been many moments and days on construction sites that were extremely difficult. Days where I thought maybe this was not for me. This happened mainly because, I did not understand the amount of anxiety that builds up in construction. There is a lot of emotions from the client and the team, after all, we are working on their most prized possession; their home. Over the years, I learned how to control this issue for the client and my team. At Golden Group we keep a constant line of communication, we have daily and weekly meetings and we constantly ask if everyone is satisfied as we move through each step of the process. This way we are able to understand our clients and serve them better because we know how they are feeling through each step, rather than asking at the end of the installation.

In Golden Group we say that we don’t install roofs, we install roofing systems. This means we inspect and perform work on all the roofing system components; ventilation, wood decking, and any skylights or chimneys. We use technology throughout the whole process by providing the client videos and photos of their home. The relationship does not stop there. After completion of the work, we always stay in touch, whether it’s a small holiday gift or a thank you card.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is when my mom used to take me every Saturday at the local theater to see the performance they made for children. The experience was unreal because all my favorite books were performed live on the show. The feeling of seeing each performance with my mom, made me fall in love with books, especially novels. When seeing a play live, I can experience all the feelings of each actor. This experience is truly life changing. I have kept this traditional alive and continue to see many theatre performances even with my own daughter. The story told within each play. the emotion of each performer, is what truly impacts you and develops your personal character.
