Meet Diandra Leigh Dente of DLD Brows

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diandra Leigh Dente.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I went to college for four years, majored in Advertising, and then I ended up a tattoo artist. Specializing in semi-permanent face tatts. Crazy, right? Never say never, because I never thought I would be referred to as the “brow girl”.

Where I started and where I am today reminds me of the very first time Boston Voyager requested to feature me. For my first interview I was freaking out. Today, I am not only more natural, but I feel more confident in my career and artistry. Similar to the first time I held a blade to someone’s face compared to now. (You can imagine my fear.)

Today, I’m being featured for the third time in Boston Voyager and each time I share my story it reminds me of how I started, how far I’ve come, and most importantly what’s to come.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only thing between wishing for something and having it are your actions. Don’t wish, do. It’s crazy the words you speak really can and will become your reality.

When I first started my Instagram page to promote my business, I was nervous of how the public would react. If you can relate to this right now, I have four words for you. DO NOT BE NERVOUS. The fear of rejection and embarrassment first came to mind. Success does not happen overnight. It took me years of hard work and fear to build my steady clientele/following. When I first started, I went from 12 views on my Instagram stories to now averaging thousands of views daily. It is January and I am booking into April/May. *pinch me* I have some clients who travel over an hour just to do their brows with me. Sometimes just to thread.

Dedication and consistency is key. At times I felt and still to this day feel discouraged, but I think what’s important is that I never lose sight of my goals.

Everyone has to start somewhere, make today the day you start…& once you start, don’t stop!

DLD Brows – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Specializing in eyebrows: Microblading, Threading, Henna.

Threading courses are also offered.

DLD Brows is unique in that we provide services to a diverse clientele, ensuring each individual leaves with their expectations met and feeling more confident than ever.

As a part of my work, I’ve been able to experience many memorable and personal connections with new and recurring clients. My clientele ranges from stay at home moms to police officers to Instagram influencers. I’ve even had a women who was 88 years old come to microblade. Brows come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors; just like us. I’ve learned in this industry that regardless of who we are, where we come from, or what we do; we all want to look in the mirror and feel confident.

I can relate to each and every one of my clients because I’ve been there and remember being the client. I remember hitting snooze and weighing out the pros and cons as I rush to get ready: be late for work or showing up feeling insecure all day because I didn’t have time to draw my eyebrows. You bet I was late every time.

With the right eyebrow shape, one’s natural beauty can be highlighted and enhanced. I started Microblading because I loved how confident my new eyebrows made me feel without having to put a drop of makeup on. I wanted others to feel the same way. My goal is to always exceed clients expectations and more importantly make them feel comfortable in my chair. I talk to my clients the way I talk to my friends. We’re BFFL’s. (Brow Friends For Life!)

Who else deserves credit?
I am so lucky to have the clients, mentors, family, and friends that I do. Without them I wouldn’t have a business or a story to tell.

Two very special people come to mind when asked this question, Tiago Sãopaio the “Eyebrow King” and Michelle Bianco owner of Skin For All Seasons.

Tiago didn’t just shape my brows, he shaped me as an artist. Not only did he teach me the in’s and out’s of the eyebrow world, he gave me confidence in my artistry and most importantly he restored confidence in myself. To this day he continues to inspire me as an artist and as a person. If you ever have the opportunity to learn from him do not sleep on it. He is the best out there. -If you’re reading this, thank you for being the best mentor EVER. I couldn’t and wouldn’t have ever started without you.

Michelle is so awesome. She sets an amazing example of how to lead, manage and run a successful business. Before the #Microblading social media craze hit and everyone wanted their eyebrows to be “on fleek”, I presented my services to different salon owners around the Boston area. Majority of the salon owners laughed at the idea that I was strictly doing brows and denied me their space. Michelle was open minded and wasn’t yet familiar with the services I was going to offer but she worked with me and took the time to help me build my business up to where it is today. I am forever grateful for that.
