Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina Velasquez-Freeman.
Carolina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After decorating for birthdays and other events for ourselves, family and friends, we planned and decorated our entire wedding in 2014. With the high costs of events, especially weddings, we decided to start a family business where we could make events more affordable while working with peoples visions and dreams for all types of events.
We have since expanded our services to offer beautiful balloon decorations of all types and most recently have added a gorgeous and elegant Mirror Photobooth. Our business is run by myself and my husband, and we frequently have our 2 daughters with us helping as well. When we need more hands, we have some very supportive friends that jump right in!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have struggled in balancing our time, between full-time jobs, part-time jobs, kids, pets, family and friends, a home and lots of community involvement, we find ourselves always busy and with long to-do lists.
We also have a lot of inventory and sometimes it gets tricky to store it all, but luckily my husband is a master a making it all work!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fairytale Moments Events – what should we know?
Fairytale Moments Events decorates for events. We also provide services as the need for our clients in coordinating and planning. When we are asked to decorate, we work with our client’s visions. We offer basic items like tablecloths and other table linens, chair covers and sashes, and customized backdrops. We also provide balloon decorations from loose balloons on the dancefloors, balloon bunches, to balloon columns, arches, and centerpieces.
We even provide balloon bouquets and deliver locally which are great for events and thoughtful times such as birthday and get well messages. Our beautiful elegant Mirror Photobooth is absolutely stunning and by far the best in the market. This Mirror photobooth is interactive and we can customize to the event. It is entertaining for guests of all ages, keeping guests laughing and smiling the whole time, not to mention, high-quality photos and prints to last a lifetime!
My husband is also expanding our business in the launch of his photography services. Visualized Mind Photography is part of the Fairytale Moments Events business and will also aim to provide affordable services.
What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
We are proud of all our events, each one is a big accomplishment for us, not only as a business but as a family.
I will say that a shining star for us is the honor of providing services in our town of Swampscott including a few elementary schools moving on ceremonies, a beautiful event for the Swampscott Recreation Department at the historical White Court, the opening day of Swampscott new football field and an amazing Father-Daughter Dance hosted by the Swampscott Police Association.
Being able to provide our services in our town, for our town, gives a little extra sparkle to our smile.
