Today we’d like to introduce you to Bill McCormick.
Bill, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was a sales professional and sales manager for business-to-business sales, I learned early in my career that every customer valued different things, which meant that our products and services needed to fit each customer’s specific needs. In a word – customization. We made that a guiding principle when our sales training company started. From the beginning, we have offered customization to all our customers for the simple reason that the best sales training workshops are tailored to the type of selling that each company does.
We started in the Boston area and initially focused our marketing efforts in the Boston to New York corridor. However, since many new customers now find us on the internet, our client base has expanded throughout the United States and overseas. For that reason, we still maintain a strong presence in the Boston area but we also have consultants located elsewhere in the USA and internationally.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve encountered two main struggles over our 20+ years in the sales training business. First, because there are so many sales training providers, a new prospective customer may not have heard of us. We’ve been able to successfully overcome this struggle by citing the large corporations that use us as their primary sales training provider.
Second, when the economy slows down, some clients cut back on the money that they spend on training. We’ve been able to address that struggle by offering different ways to deliver training. For example, if a client cannot afford an in-person workshop because of budgetary constraints, perhaps our online products or 1-on-1 coaching services would be a cost-effective way to achieve a similar outcome.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sales Training And Results – what should we know?
We specialize in sales training for sales professionals, sales managers, and sales support personnel who are in business-to-business sales. Two things set us apart – our willingness to customize our workshop design and reinforcement services, and the flexibility to offer sales training in a variety of formats such as in-person, train-the-trainer, online products, and coaching.
If I had to limit myself to one thing that we are most proud of as a company, it would be that we listen to our customers in order to then provide them a customized solution that meets their needs.
