Meet Arnie Casavant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arnie Casavant.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I attended Umass Dartmouth following an honorable discharge from the military in 1971 with a B.F.A. in Art Education. Started in 1978 I served as an Art Teacher/ Administrator at Oliver Ames High School in Easton Ma. until retiring in 2005. I also taught painting through Northeastern University Institute for Professional Development from 2002 until 2008. Since retirement I have focused my time on my passion for painting and continuing my passion for teaching by offering workshops and demonstrations. I’ve had my paintings on display at many venues from Cape Cod to Boston and currently maintain Studio 218 at 450 Harrison Ave. In the Sowa Arts District. I divide time between Medford and Ashland New Hampshire with my wife of 46 years and our Cairn Terrier.

Please tell us about your art.
Boston is a major subject in my work. Capturing my subjects in a special light is my passion. “Light is the bringer of beauty ” IS an adage that resonates with me.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
My goal is to show my subjects in a different light. To share my passion and joy of painting with my students.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
