Meet Anna Gaul of Tipping Cow in Somerville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Gaul.

Anna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Tipping Cow started four years ago by attending local farmers markets in the Boston area, and one year ago, we opened our own scoop shop in Somerville. We make all of our ice cream in house, and have fun playing with new and exciting flavors, such as blueberry ginger, strawberry basil, and Irish Stout.

Has it been a smooth road?
Our greatest struggle was in the beginning, before we opened our own location. We used a shared kitchen, and while it was a great way to get started, using a shared space always has its problems. We are so excited to finally have our own space where we have unlimited time and much more flexibility. It gives us much more room for growth and experimentation!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Tipping Cow – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are most proud of the purity of our ice creams. We add no dyes, chemical stabilizers, or preservatives, so our ice creams have a really natural homemade taste. We also use no peanuts or tree nuts on our facility, so it is safe for kids with nut allergies!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
There are so many young families in the area, which is a lot of fun for an ice cream shop. Watching kids get excited about the ice cream is the best part of the job.
