Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Calise.
Stephanie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been into fashion and creating content since I was in college and as I got older, I started working at an actual fashion company as a Women’s wear Designer and now working as a print designer. Branching out from that I really found my love for styling outfits and creating content for people who get inspired by not only fashion but beauty and lifestyle content as well. As I created an Instagram account (@theblondegirldaily) and YouTube channel, I found that life isn’t always about a pretty picture or perfect outfit. I started creating content that was relatable to people, such as sharing my experiences with anxiety and depression. Sharing that life isn’t just about a pretty picture you see on Instagram and that people are dealing with real-life issues every day. I want to relate to the people who follow me and help them by feeling like they aren’t alone. Even if they are having a rough day that maybe branching out and doing something creative may help them in some way. I feel like my YouTube channel and Instagram are more lifestyle based now (with some cute outfits in there)! Social media and content creators should be making content that is relatable to everyone, not some unrealistic face-tuned photo that people strive to be. It is unrealistic!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been perfect pictures and product offers! I feel like as I explained in my last question working in social media plays with your mind and self-doubt a bit. As a content creator, I feel like we are always comparing ourselves to others and picking apart what could be better or why is my content not doing as well as theirs. Now, as I grow in the world of Instagram, YouTube, and other social platforms I realize that I am the only me out there. No one can tell my stories or have my exact taste in fashion or beauty, which makes me different, and that’s a good thing. Everyone will struggle on their journey no matter what journey that may be, but always stay true to who you are and whatever the universe has in store for you will play out.
Please tell us about The Blonde Girl Daily.
I am best known as a beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content creator. I have an Instagram account and Youtube channel, which are my two most popular platforms. I use my Instagram account almost like a blog where I really just post my feelings day to day through fashion or lifestyle photography. My YouTube channel crosses a lot of topics from makeup tutorials to more serious issues like my anxiety and ways to deal with it. Some of the proudest brands that I have worked with are Reef x Corona project, Shop Hush (beauty website), Sigma Beauty, and MissA (beauty website). I feel like I am more alternative than some Instagrammers and YouTubers out there. I have a casual style that borders on tomboy, but yet I still like to wear makeup and curl my hair. I feel like what sets me apart is that I am relatable to other people on social media, meaning I’m not 6 ft. tall with long legs and long hair (no judgment you are all gorgeous!) I don’t have lip fillers or a size zero waist, I’m just me being me. A 5’3 gal living her best life with her husband and chocolate lab!
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I feel like now’s the time for women in social media. Now is the time to share our stories and relate to one another and help each other through whatever obstacles we faced or are about to face. Social media shouldn’t always be about the perfect image or the sexiest image, it should also be a way for girls to help boost confidence in one another and not break each other down.
