Today we’d like to introduce you to Rafaella Freitas.
Rafaella, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, my parents always wanted the best for me. Academics was very important in our household, so after graduating high school, college was an absolute must. I graduated Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University with a Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene. After working in the private care setting for two years, I realized this wasn’t how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. I knew there was more I could offer.
I started traveling more, and spending more time in Miami with my brother and sister who both have been in the beauty industry for years. I quickly realized how diverse the cosmetic industry can really be. There seemed to be a medspa on every corner in Miami, but not many back home. The Greater Boston area was really lacking a place that catered both to men and women’s aesthetic needs. I wanted to bring the technology and innovative aesthetic practices I experienced in South Beach back home to Boston.
The goal was to create a cool, laid back environment where people could feel safe but still have some fun. I think here at Luxe Beauty Lounge, we do a great job at incorporating excellent care with a vibe no one else offers.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been easy by any means. Being a young woman, I’ve unfortunately faced many difficulties. When I first started, no one took me seriously. I had meetings upon meetings with different boards, city officials and found it super difficult to have my voice heard and get the things I needed to get done. My advice would be to never give up. People may doubt you, but if you work hard and remain true to your vision, good things will come. Don’t wait for things to be handed to you, you’ll be waiting forever. Get your hands dirty, stand your ground, and really put in the work.

The most important advice I could give a young woman entrepreneur is to stick to your guns. People are going to discourage you, don’t let them get in your head! You are a powerful woman, take no sh*t.
