Today we’d like to introduce you to Nelse Karini.
Nelse is one of Boston’s most prominent makeup artists. She won Boston’s Best Makeup Artist award in 2014 and has been nominated for multiple awards every year. Enhancing beauty for over 14 years, her range of work includes fashion shows, print campaigns, commercials, TV appearances and editorial work. She has worked with celebrities such as Bianca de la Garza, designer Michael De Paulo, actress and producer Michelle Romano, celebrity hair stylist Oribe and more. In the beauty pageant world, she has successfully collaborated with many contestants of Miss Teen USA, Miss Earth 2015, Miss Massachusetts and Miss Bulgaria.
Has it been a smooth road?
Getting started it always has its challenges. Doing the job wasn’t an issue but getting people to do their make up with me, to prove them my worth was a challenge. To get them to trust a young artist with their make up.
My advice to someone starting their journey would be, never give up. Keep up with your passion for makeup and people that appreciate your work will recommend you to the next one and that next person will become a new client. That’s how you built a reLationship and your business at the same time.

I do make up for all spectrums of the beauty industry, including photo shoots, editorials, pageants etc but l would Have to say that weddings are my bread winner.
I am proud of people selecting me to be a part of their special day, making them feel beautiful and happy with that being a rehearsal dinner, a baby shower, a prom or engagement photos.
I would say what sets me apart from others is my professionalism, my will, and determination to go above and beyond for my clients to be able to provide my services to their time of need.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
I get inspiration by learning from other makeup artist that have paived their way before l even got started in this field.
Find a mentor that inspires you with their work, that has a stile similar to your esthetics.
