Today we’d like to introduce you to Gaby Benoit.
Gaby, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started working for a newspaper in Germany. That was a long time! 🙂 They wanted me to take photos on top my writing which was out of my comfort zone. Just a few weeks later I knew that my real passion was taking photos and soon, that became my main focus. Years later, I started working with a wedding photographer and loved it from the beginning on. Being part of somebody’s special day is more that amazing. About 15 years ago, I opened my own wedding photography company and 8 years ago merged with David Benoit that soon thereafter became my husband. The truth is I just wanted to wipe out my competition and get him on my side. 🙂 Together, we now do about 100 wedding a year and could not be more thankful.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being a wedding photographer is GREAT and a lot of fun. Remember one thing: You always work weekends. You will be missing a lot of your friend’s parties and outings. In the beginning, that was hard but over the years, I met a lot of awesome people that are also in the industry and we have our weekend on a Monday and Tuesday. It works great.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
Growing up in Germany really was a ton of fun. As a teenager, I had so many different jobs but working for the newspaper really set the tone for my life as a photographer. I always loved working with people.
