Conversations with the Inspiring Annmarie LaFauci

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annmarie LaFauci.

Annmarie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
1991 began making clothing, weddings, seamstress type work and the like. I also ran Fashion shows at many of the local hot spot night clubs and hotel lobby’s as well as big fundraiser events for charity, mostly based on fun and fashion. I ran an annual Fashion Extravaganza where we would spotlight new designers, models, companies and brands to raise funds and awareness for autism through the Fund for Autistic Children (501C3). Continued through today, running fashion, entertainment based events most recently a Bike Night for Veterans. Over the course of my career, I took some personal time to raise my now 14 year old daughter. Mostly focus of fun new styles, dresses and bathing suits for women.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was doing great with my fashion career, planning events, marketing and creating ads for local businesses and Back then, Thea early 90s, everything was going fabulous, I was presented with some really fun and exciting opportunities, and traveled to Milan Italy and attended courses and the prestigious Istituto Marangoni. Met some incredible artists. I was fortunate to have met some famous fashion. Icons and see beautiful fashion enterprises over the past 25 years. However, personally I faced some struggles in that I married a “pro- boxer/model”. Things were fun and we were both doing great in our respective careers. But his boxing career took its toll and he wasn’t willing to give it up. He took some really tough fights ending up unemployed and depressed. We had a newborn and was working a full time job as well to make ends meet. Ultimately, my priority was that I had raise my daughter as best I could and we were not in a good place. We were divorced, I moved from my hometown up to Salem NH. I faced some brief health scares and some issues with my day job. Finally I left the full time job in 2013 and have been focusing on marketing my fashion career since. My beautiful teenage girl is a blessing and so much fun. She is my heart. She is creative like me and is loving art, design and fashion. I’m happy to be back on track and have done some really cool events on the Boston Fashion industry of late. Fashion, design and marketing is again my career focus and I look forward to continuing on to see where this road takes me.

What should we know about Annmarie LaFauci Designs, FrankiO Events and marketing? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I like to think my designs are unique. I do not mass produce. I make things as an individual and unique art piece. Weather it’s a gown, party dress, bathing suit or custom designed T-shirt or tank, you won’t find it elsewhere. I love to find and utilize different type fabrics and metals that aren’t generally the “norm” I Fashion. I love painting on and dying fabrics too. I love nature and animals. I’m inspired by clouds and things I see daily in the environment. I love planning events and Meeting new and fun individuals. So many daily elements factor into me my creating new pieces.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I see so many daily opportunities for women. I like to think I can successfully accomplish anything I put my mind to. If I don’t know how to do something, I love to learn. I was raised to work hard and go for my goals. I think woman are just as capable as men in doing most anything they choose. For example, my Dad builds houses and he is also a mechanic and car dealer. He raised me to know these businesses. I can go to a job site and pick up a hammer or an auction and purchase vehicles to sell. I have done brick laying and helped put up sheet rock on a building construction project. I love advertising and creating fun marketing campaigns as well and have advertised for many types of businesses, restaurants, Night clubs, and dental offices! I’m versatile and I do not put any limits on what I could accomplish. I try to urge my daughter to be all that she can and wants to be. I am always willing and eager to learn new things. I feel lucky to be given opportunities and teachers in so many work fields.
