Check out Sally Cooper’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sally Cooper.

Sally, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
The story of my photography begins with the birth of a new era. I was there at the beginning of social sharing, the iPhone and the birth of apps like Instagram. My whole life changed on April 23, 2005, the day I gave birth to my first daughter. Coincidentally, the same day the first YouTube video was uploaded. Within 4 years, the world, as I knew it, changed. I had three children during the years of 2005-2009. Not only were my beautiful babies born during this time, but so were the iPhone, YouTube, and Instagram the following year. Instagram was launched in 2010. As a software professional, turned Stay-at-Home-Mom (SAHM), I suddenly had a lot of time, energy, curiosity, and cute babies to share pictures of on the internet. My love of social media marketing and photography grew together while my personal career/passion was born. As a female and mother, I live to create things. The ability to create art with my phone through photography and filters on Instagram became a passion.

This passion developed into a love of marketing and visual representation of a message. After sharing photos taken on my phone, I started using a Nikon DSLR along with the Adobe Creative Suite to create visually stunning and influential photographs. The encouragement from the Instagram community gave me the confidence to share my images not just online, but also in coffee shops, hotels, marketing campaigns and auctions for charity. Now that my children aren’t babies anymore, I have further developed this passion for visual marketing into a full-time career. Joining my love of visuals, knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, and expertise in Social Media, Marketing and B2B software, I use these skills as a Software Marketing professional. I feel truly blessed to be on this journey. As the great Steve Jobs once said, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.”

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
According to Forbes Magazine, 65% of people are visual learners and presentations with visual aides are 43% more persuasive, it makes sense to use content types which people have an innate psychological resonance with in marketing and displays of your art. Sourcing and curating photography for brand marketing is a creative endeavor I enjoy in my profession. Whether I am looking to upgrade a website with a brand/feeling in mind, curating photographs for one of the Instagram Hubs I started, or hiking to the top of a mountain and looking for the right angle to capture the sun; I always look to great artists for inspiration. I spent many hours looking at another people’s work to try and learn from them. Some of my greatest influences have been found on Social Media. I hope that sharing my story will help inspire others to research, admire what they like, and then make it their own creations. Find your creative medium whether that is in your work, your art or even both! Being self-taught in both Photography and Marketing have been incredible in allowing me to pursue my passion and find career success in what I love.

How can artists connect with other artists?
I believe there is no excuse in these times of social sharing to feel lonely as an artist. There are literally groups for every single medium and people are always happy to connect and share their work. I have met some of my greatest friends, artists, and career connections through social media. Instagram is a very friendly and motivating place to share art, just by creating a public account and using hashtags such as #localart and your city or state #boston, you can find and get found by other local artists. They key is to interact with other people and show interest in another people’s work that inspires you.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I really excited to announce my current show with Following Boston in the Ruby Room at the Onyx Hotel. The show is a series of 10 images of Boston in the Summer and is on display until September 13, 2018. The images are of all that I love about Boston: flowers, sunsets, and reflections.

All of the images are for sale via email sallycooperphotography@gmail.com. If you are looking to connect about digital marketing, inspiring B2B and influencer marketing campaigns, and/or the use of visual imagery in the buyer journey, please connect with me on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/sally-cooper/.
