Today we’d like to introduce you to William Mann.
William, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Hi, my name is Will. I am a photographer from south of Boston and I have been creating images for about 15 years. I love exploring Boston, love to travel and love taking portraits. I am rarely without a camera in hand. Sorry I am a man of few words. I like to let my images do the talking.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I started out as a landscape photographer and have since moved into portraits. I try to look at the world a little differently. I try to create images that will transport you somewhere… Be it the time of day, which is usually sunrise, or to a different place, usually a beach or in the water. I don’t do traditional portrait work. I like to add landscapes or something special in to create a different feel to the image.
Over the years I have tried to distinguish myself in those different ways. I want people to look at my work and say how did he do that? or where is that because I want to go there or have a reaction. I am inspired by people, places and life in general. I always want to have fun creating my work.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Have fun! Do what you love and do it for yourself. Make art for you. Don’t let anyone put down you or your work cause they don’t like it.
The only lesson I wish I learned sooner would’ve been to be true to who I am. Make the art that makes me happy.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I don’t have any current exhibitions going on. I do have two images at the Hotel Envoy in the seaport. If you go into the lobby bathrooms, the doors you enter through have my images.
