Art & Life with Katherine Henry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Henry.

Katherine, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’ve always had an interest in photography and during college, I studied both photography and graphic design. I received my degree in Visual Arts. I love using my design background throughout my photography business, designing and laying out my clients’ albums is always so much fun,

After college, I worked full time as an in-house designer for 8 years. I was still taking photos and started picking up weddings on the weekends! My brides were starting to ask about Boudoir photos and that was when it all started to happen. After my first boudoir marathon day, I was hooked!

Over the next few years, I shifted from weddings and boudoir to completely focusing on boudoir. I love everything about a boudoir session from the hair and makeup to all the fashion, and the best part is watching my clients feel empowered, confidence and strong. Each client has their own story and reasons for coming to the studio. Some women come to celebrate an upcoming wedding, some are celebrating a milestone and others are treating themselves after a life change.

I opened my studio location in Reading, MA six years ago and business has continued to grow year over year as more women learn about boudoir and hear about the experience from their friends who have also done sessions.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I’m a boudoir photographer and I help women feel confident, strong and beautiful! My clients are all ages and sizes and they each have their own reason to do a session. Some women are getting married while others are celebrating a personal milestone!

My clients inspire me and I love to hear the stories behind each of them! Some clients have come to me after a life-changing event – cancer treatment, divorce, or having babies! I love learning each story and discussing the best way to capture this moment in their lives.

Each one of my clients inspires me and I bring this to each session. We always chat leading up to the session date and by the time my clients are done with the full boudoir experience, we feel like friends!

I want each client to take away an amazing experience from start to finish. I want them to take away confidence and perhaps a new found love for themselves when they look back at their photos in a custom designed

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
I love connecting with other artists and solo business owners! I’ve met many people locally in the same area as my studio. I’m located on the North Shore in Reading, and this community is full of amazing other small businesses. I love connecting with other creates as well as others working hard and doing their thing.

I’ve made create connections with salon owners, fitness trainers, and makeup artists to name just a few. So much can be learned from every connection. The internet and social media have made connecting so fun and easy!

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
My portfolio and current sessions can all be seen on my website.

I’m also loving Instagram for a way to show all my current work along with a peek into how I do what I do and the life of a photographer through the Instagram stories! My Instagram handle is @kahenry I would love for you to follow along!

Along with the photography I love creating videos showing sessions, how I create and what I offer clients. You can see all my videos on my Vimeo page,
