Check out Zeke Martin’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zeke Martin

Zeke Martin, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born in Brussels, Belgium. My father, Stu Martin, was a famous jazz drummer that played with Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, Maynard Ferguson, Charles Mingus and many more. So, I was born with drum sticks in my hand. We lived in Europe for 13 years and in 1986 came to the US to Cambridge, MA. Went to high school at Cambridge Ringe and Latin. After graduation I moved to San Francisco for a year then moved back to Boston, then moved to NYC for two years. Then back to Boston where I started to perform on a consistent basis. After 12 years I tried NYC one more time but I had already made a name for myself up in Boston. So, while living in NYC I kept getting calls to gig in Boston. Till one day I said this is crazy so I finally moved back to Boston for good. I now perform 200 shows a year, teach at Northeastern University for the past 10 years and teach at Berklee School of Music during the summers.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a drummer/musician. I have my own band called Zeke Martin & The Oracle. We play funk/jazz and have performed all around the world. I love music and love performing and sharing my gift with the world. I’ve been on my own since I was 18. So, if I can do it any one can. I love to help up and coming musicians and give advice and help in whatever way I can.

Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
I think that now a day’s people don’t go out as much as they use to so it is a little harder to get people to come out to your shows. However, there’s a crowd for all types of music and you just have to find yours. someone will like your music. I think that now a days with social media you can find the fans and reach the crowds that will like you and your music.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I have a few websites that you can check out my information.
