Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla McAdams.
Kayla, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story began with a feeling that sparked from within that everyone has a purpose that will guide them and create their destiny. As soon as I learned to trust mine, I was able to fully commit to my passion without doubt or insecurity. I knew I wanted to uplift, inspire, and support people but I was struggling to fully commit to do this for others because I was constantly pouring from an empty cup. I’m a huge believer of staying true to yourself. When I wasn’t, I just didn’t feel good. I had multiple events occur for me that left me with two choices 1. To let this experience tear me down and give up. 2. Grow and learn from this experience and keep going. I remember thinking to myself at a fairly young age, “what do you have control over and what do you not? Focus on what you have control over Kayla.”
The moment I decided to pursue what I love was not this big drastic change where I dropped everything and could solemnly focus on opening up my own business. It was the complete opposite. It was scary, unknown, HARD. I had to learn to let go… of people, expectations, and my social life. I pursued training’s, certificates, and college classes on top of working multiple jobs at a time to gain experience and be able to survive. I had a vision and I set goals and dreams (that constantly changed and developed and they still are) and I worked hard and long towards them day in and day out.
Simply Rooted Soul was established in July 2016. Simply Rooted Soul offers Integrative Nutritional Health Coaching, Buti Yoga, & Simply Rooted Meals; personalized meal preparation services. Simply Rooted Souls services were created to embrace all aspects of one’s life and how it impacts us as a whole, while taking into consideration not only the food that we put in our mouths but the food we feed our souls.
My story is just beginning and I am constantly growing and developing. I’m excited and confident in what I offer and I hope to help people stay rooted but to learn to flow.
What does being rooted but learning to flow mean? It means being able to “go with the flow.” It means having a solid foundation to stand on that is comfortable and orderly, but that does not chain you to a life that robs your other energy centers of experiencing the joys that they thrive on. It means not giving up the essence of who you are in the name of restoring energy at only one level. It means not losing the free-spirited nature of your being while you try to calm the chaos in your life.
If you’re only focusing on the end goal, you’ll miss the journey there. Learn to love the process. Appreciate what you’re doing and the dedication you have. The rest will fall into place.
Has it been a smooth road?
There has been many obstacles along my journey. Two of my biggest challenges have been sacrifice and self-belief.
Sacrifice is the act of giving up something that you want to keep in order to get or do something else. I walked away from many things that left me emotional and doubtful at times, but now looking back I would not be where I am today if I didn’t make those difficult decisions. That realization has helped me grow in so many ways and become more confident and smart when it comes to making decisions for my business and in general. Not every decision was a good one either. I made a lot of mistakes but those two helped me grow and I don’t regret any of them. Walking away from stable income, security, and opportunities is hard. But what is harder is living your life without purpose and truth.
My belief in myself was constantly challenged. It was challenged through self-doubt but also through other people’s judgment and belief in me. Decisions I made were often misunderstood by people partly because they didn’t know my story but also because it wasn’t their way. I had to be okay with people disagreeing with what I was doing because it wasn’t how they would do it. Sure it was discouraging at times to not have support from people you thought you would but I never blamed them. It even took me forgiving them and seeking a different perspective towards individuals who judge other people. The reflection of judgment showed they cared about me and for that I am grateful.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Simply Rooted Soul – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am the owner of a local business on Cape Cod, Simply Rooted Soul. Simply Rooted Soul offers Integrative Nutritional Health Coaching, Buti Yoga, and Simply Rooted Meals personalized meal preparation services.
An Integrative Nutrition Health Coach is a guide and mentor who empowers you and provides ongoing support and guidance as you set goals and make sustainable changes that improve your health and happiness. As your Health Coach, I will listen carefully and we’ll navigate the world of contradictory nutrition and health advice together to explore what truly works for you. I offer health consults, three month programs, and six month programs.
I found and love to share my passion for Buti Yoga, a form of movement that not only keeps me physically in great shape but spiritually, mentally, and emotionally has connected me to parts of me I didn’t know existed. Buti Yoga Fuses power yoga with cardio-intensive tribal dance + body sculpting primal movement. Moving your body daily is essential for a healthy mind, body, and soul. Finding a passion is so important when it comes to working out. Enjoying what you are doing while also benefiting your health is the true definition of success when it comes to fitness, not just for the physical results you will encounter. You are your only limit.
Simply Rooted Meals offers personalized meal preparation to my local community. I use my educationally equipped knowledge as a nutritional health coach to create a personalized whole foods meal plan for clients. I grocery shop, cook, portion, and prepare a week of meals.
I feel what makes Simply Rooted Soul unique is how I focus on a personalized approach because everyone is different. My services are not a one size fits all. I feel so strongly that everything in someone’s life is connected to overall happiness and health and so my approach is lifestyle based not just focused on one aspect, such as food.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like that I am able to collaborate and become inspired by other local businesses.
