Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Cutlip, Kristina Filozova, Ron O’Connor, and Max Camponovo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
While in college one of my co-workers at another bar had mentioned Minibar as a great lounge, chic and fantastic place to work. Newly introduced into the hospitality field within Boston, I figured, take a chance and go for the interview. I fell in love with the decor, location and management was superb. To be quite honest, I was a bit nervous to be starting in such a chic location but soon after got acquainted with style, presentation and level of hospitality we wanted to offer our customers.
I was front of the house staff taking on many roles for the first three to four years while in college. Once graduated, I did move onto office management role and assistant to the then Director of Events, Kyla Moore. She had been with the company for close to a decade–in an industry of constant turn over, it’s rare for employees to maintain longevity but this is the type of culture we breed. She moved on amicably to create her own app called Tablelist which we do utilize often.
Stepping into her shoes was certainly an honor as her reputation is impeccable within the hospitality field. I have learned marketing, sales and hospitality skills in a setting where ownership allows you to challenge yourself.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
For the most part, it has been a smooth role. A lot of employees here have remained as their secondary place of employment because they genuinely like the culture management establishes. The only struggle has been letting go of my mentor Kyla but I learned much from her innovative and positive attitude towards all challenges the role of Director of Events presents.
