Today we’d like to introduce you to Dianne Panarelli Miller.
Dianne, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am a world renowned artist painting across the country and in Canada, Bermuda, and Europe. I am an award winning Boston-based “Plein Air Painter” of color and light and am a signature member of the New England Plein Air Painters and am a “Copley Master” at the Copley Society, the oldest art association in Boston. My approach combines the classical atelier training of the “Boston School”, with a mastery of technique of her own personal style expressed through the harmony of color and design. The original Boston School way of painting seeks to combine the truth of impressionist color with good drawing, sound composition and skillful paint handling. Its leading exponents included Edmund Tarbell, Frank Benson, William Paxton, Joseph Decamp, Philip Hale, R.H. Ives Gammell. Gammell was a turn of the century Boston Museum School pupil of the first three men and later consulted with Paxton. Robert Douglas Hunter and Robert Cormier (with whom Miller studied) were students of Gammell. David Lowery and Robert Moore, also students of Gammell rounded off her studies.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I teach adult education each morning in different art associations on the South Shore of Boston which I have been doing for over 10 years. I love to teach and turn on art in people’s lives. Each afternoon, I try to paint near where I teach outdoors in some of the prettiest shoreline communities south of Boston. Each evening, I paint in my studio making larger paintings from my sketches done from life each afternoon. I do this most every day of the week. I am also in 15 galleries and associations all throughout New England. I love what I do and I support my family with my art. I tell people that as an artist, you are never bored and you are never lonely. There is always someone who would paint with you and always something to paint.
How can artists connect with other artists?
Painting is very solitary if you want. But there are so many opportunities to paint with others, there is no need to be lonely. Just hook up with your local art associations and get to know the artists involved. Artists love to talk about their work and most like to share!
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
