Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Marie.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Robyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started working for Lancome in 2006. During a big makeup event, our National Makeup artist brought in 10 freelance artists. I was so excited to see what they could do. At the end of the day, I knew I wanted to freelance. I traveled all over New England with our National Artists and really honed my craft. My mentors where Tarek Abbas, Manuel Villegas, Alex Sanchez and Sandy Linter. Working with brides became my passion, so I started my own business in 2008, and Boston Bridal Makeup was born. In 2012, I was approached to work with the official photographers for the Miss Massachusetts, Miss New Hampshire, and Miss Maine pageants. In 2013, I was asked to work with Gin and Joe Freeman, owners of Dynasty Models, and now of Freeman Fashion Group. I loved working on the runway models for various events all over Boston. Mostly through recommendations, my business has quickly grown. I also work part time at N’vie Skin Care in Billerica,
Has it been a smooth road?
The struggle is getting clients to trust you on their special days. That’s why I love when clients contact me, saying that a friend or family member loved my work and fully recommend me.
My advice to someone who wants to get into the make up industry is to first find a job and start gaining experience before you invest in formal training.
We’d love to hear more about Boston Bridal Makeup.
My passion is working with women, on their special day, and bringing an atmosphere of calmness and fun. I listen and give them the look that they want. I like to enhance their natural beauty without showcasing the makeup.
I specialize in airbrush foundation and all the popular eye styles. I also do spray tanning as well.
My proudest moments have been the times when my clients are truly happy and confident after leaving my chair.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
My mother has been a huge inspiration to me. She is a very strong woman and has always worked hard for all she has. She has always encouraged me to go after what I wanted in life.
Yolanda Cellucci is a woman who I look up to in this business. She started off selling wigs at home parties and turned her passion into “Yolanda’s” which was a full-service bridal salon, hair salon, and spa that was huge in Waltham for many years. She is still working in the industry when most are retired. She reminds me of the “Energizer Bunny”, always going!
Gin Freeman: Along with her husband, Joe Freeman are the owners of The Freeman Fashion Group. They are a consulting agency. She has given me the opportunity to grow as an artist and showcase my talent. Watching her work with the models and produce a fashion show from beginning to end is a real inspiration.
