Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelli Bos.
Kelli, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Kelli Bos began through a personal shopping experience; I was shopping for a natural fiber that felt great against my skin, moved with me, traveled well, and complimented my skin tone, the ability to dress up or down, affordable and sophisticated. I found my look through sewing and my wanting to share that experience with others, Kelli Bos Sewing for Success℠ was created which focuses on sustainability, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy.
Since then, I have been educating others in the creative world of sewing, and creating a baseline of custom clothing leaving room for one’s own personal creativity and style.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, not at all. The countless designs that have turned into dust rags or upcycled tote bags tell a story in of itself lol. Learning the basics of sewing is not complicated, but understanding the concept of how threads, fabrics/textiles, hues, fit, functionality and all work together and to take what is in your mind and bring it to life, makes it a fun challenge for sure.
Kelli Bos – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in creating one of a kind, timeless, custom-made designs; when not working on my own projects, customers present their design ideas and we work together to bring them to life. I am most proud that individuals entrust me with their vision and designs, their dreams if you will; I have learned a great deal from my customers, they have stretched my creativity, confidence, and skill in such a positive direction, and changing the “idea” of sewing to an entirely different level
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is what makes you happy, what makes you get up in the morning, what makes you tap your toes and hum while doing or experiencing what you have decided to embark.
My marker is to see people proudly wearing a Kelli Bos design around the World, to see a client who entrusted me with their dream become a great success and to teach as many people as possible the creative and fun concepts behind the art and skill of sewing.
