Conversations with the Inspiring Vicky Pol

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vicky Pol.

Vicky, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My love for skincare started as a young girl. Growing up in the Dominican Republic, I loved making homemade masks with my cousins and playing around doing facials. I also loved extracting the blackheads on my dad’s nose.

I became a wife and a mother at a very young age but that never stopped me from getting my career and work on my dreams.

Thanks to the support of my family, I decided to enroll in esthetics school (Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics) and my love for skin care just grew more as I learned more in depth about skin. As soon as I graduated, friends and family wanted to support me and I started providing facial services. At the moment, I was very scared of waxing people’s eyebrows since I didn’t want to mess them up that was until the day I decided to give it a try and everyone started loving my work.

From that point on, most of my clientele comes here to get their eyebrows fixed and word of mouth started going around.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. The first 3 months into building my business, I remember myself crying for not having enough clients wondering if I made the right decision. I was loving what I was doing but it was not providing enough financially. I decided to look for a job as an Esthetician but it was not fulfilling me. I was making a little more financially, but there was a lot of time away from my family, getting home when my children were already asleep and no place for growth in that company. I decided to leave the job and try it one more time on my own.

Now, I get booked months in advance. My advice to other women starting to never give up, nobody said it was going to be easy and it will take time, but if you persist you will succeed.

What should we know about Skinluxe? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
At the moment, I provide facials, chemical peels, full body waxing, lash lifts, eyebrow shaping, and tint.
We specialize in facials and eyebrow wax with tint. I also have an Eyebrow Cosmetics line that includes Eyebrow Powders, Pencils, Clear Gel, Highlighter and Brow and lash rejuvenator.

The best feeling is when a client feels good and can see a change in the services I provide. Makes me feel proud every time I get a happy message or review.

Something that sets me apart from others is love. I love my career and making people feel great. My clients know and feel that I work with passion.

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
Someone that has inspired me in life is my parents.

I always remember them working and doing what they love.

My father has always challenged me to get as many certificates as he does and I am constantly enrolling in continuing education to make him proud and also because I love learning more about this industry.

My mother has always worked with her heart always helping and working with passion.
