Today we’d like to introduce you to Nico Zottos.
Nico, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My passion for music began when I was very young, about 8 or 9 years old, and decided I wanted to learn how to play the bass guitar. This eventually led to me joining a band in high school where I discovered my interest in audio engineering when the band needed to record our first album. From there I began to see a clear direction of where I wanted to go in life and the next step was attending Berklee College of Music to study Music Production and Engineering and Music Business. I took everything I learned there and used it to open up Vibe four months before I graduated. Since then I have worked with an amazing set of artists and have produced multiple records that have already been released and some that are coming soon!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There’s definitely no smooth road when it comes to the music business. The challenge is to keep innovating and finding new ways to reach artists and their fans. It also requires you to think about your goals differently and see how you can adapt them to the demands of the market. You can never stop working and think that you’ve done everything you can, there’s always more to be done.
Vibe Recording Studio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Vibe Recording Studio is a small studio located in the seacoast of New Hampshire specializing in music production. We focus on recording and mixing acts from solo musicians to full bands in an environment that is relaxed, fun, and gets the creative juices flowing. This fall, Vibe will begin expanding into other forms of media so follow our social media pages to get the latest on that!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is being happy with the work you do, what you are producing, and the impact your work has on others. If a client leaves with a mix and is happy, I am successful. It’s also about moving forward and trying new things to see how you can better yourself and your business.
