Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Ann DiZazzo.
Emily Ann, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always loved the world of beauty and when I was 16 I ventured into the salon world through an internship to make sure this was where my passion lied. The first salon I worked in really built my foundation from the ground up. It was very old school, no computer and cash or check only (lol). I learned the core of everything there though, they were also a part of the American Cancer Society and gave and styled wigs for women which was so eye opening to truly how impactful this career could be.
My next step was cosmetology school, not even a month after my high school graduation I was enrolled in the full time program at Continental Academy in Hudson, New Hampshire. The day after I graduated cosmetology school was my first day in the salon as a hairdresser! I learned so much from this salon but hungry for growth I accepted the most amazing opportunity at Salon Forza! Since being at Salon Forza that’s where the real story starts… from my first airplane ride, endless education, and constant growth being pushed out of my comfort zone molded me into the stylist I am today.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing worth having is easy to get! Cosmetology school was a very intense environment with a lot of personalities and long days. Looking back now that was the beginning of building my thick skin which is always necessary when working with the public. In a class I took they said “you can have 19 guests who love you and what you do and 1 guest who isn’t happy but you go home thinking about that 1 person.” That’s how we’re built as humans and learning to find the balance is a part of the journey. One of my biggest obstacles I got over was flying! I had never been on an airplane and there was an amazing training opportunity at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, California. I had to get over my fears to get to this class and it ended up being one of the best experiences I’ve had so far! These are only a few struggles of course there are day to day ones but they get overlooked remembering why I do what I do.
Salon Forza – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Salon Forza is a luxury salon that has you feeling at home the moment you walk in! We offer a moment of wellness to help you forget your stresses from the outside world and just focus of you… and that’s only the beginning of the service! I am most proud of everything we do to give back to the community. We participate in raising money for clean water with Aveda, the hair-raising event for the Boston Children’s Hospital, and countless events in Andover. What really sets us apart is how much we care as a team. We want to make sure you’re as comfortable as you can be in our salon! Our salon (and myself) do almost everything from waxing, Nails, eyelash extensions, cutting and coloring hair, hair extensions, and so much more. Salon Forza does continuing education monthly to make sure we’re up to date on the latest trends.
Something I’m recently most proud of is my guest who is only 10 got an express Keratin Blowout and that’s all it took for her to start loving her curls and seeing herself differently! This is why I love what I do, being able to positively change the way people see themselves is a gift I have the pleasure of giving!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as harmoniously having emotional and financial stability. I don’t consider myself successful yet but everyday that I make my guest happy and really listen to what they want out of there service with me is a success! I take each day I have these successes as building blocks to get me where I want to be. I’m always looking for more education, more webinars, and more podcasts to educate me so there is never something I can’t do.
