Nabila, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Back in the day, I was a huge tomboy. I did not want anything to do with getting dressed up or having my makeup done, but that changed pretty quickly once I got to high school. I started getting more dressed up and trying on makeup. Let’s just say, it wasn’t the best but it was a start. Later on, during family events, I would get all glammed up. I just loved getting my makeup done and getting all dolled up for events. I would always tell parents that I want to become a makeup artist after I finish my degree in college.
Fall of 2017 was when I officially decided that I wanted to become my own makeup artist and pursue my dreams. I used to and still continue to watch so many makeup tutorials and seeing how happy the makeup artists are with their work inspired me. After I made my huge decision to start my own makeup career, my cousin Shakil who does amazing photography, also known as ShotsByShakil helps me with the photography aspect. As I do the makeup, he would take the pictures, so I could display both of our work on social media. Aashna who is the owner and makeup artist of TouchofGlamBoston has also inspired me to continue following my dreams as a makeup artist. She has also been a huge support and I truly admire her work. And I am very thankful to my friends and family who have supported me every step of the way. With their unconditional support and love, my career has come to a reality.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, this road has not been smooth at all! This road has been a bit bumpy especially trying to get me out there and more noticed. One of the biggest challenges for me is getting followers on Instagram and getting likes on my Facebook page.
Even though situations like this can get frustrating, I strongly believe all the women out there who are pursuing what they love to continue doing it! One day, all your hard work and determination will be acknowledged, so never give up on your dreams and always believe in yourself! Don’t let these small set backs get in the way of your happiness and following your dreams.

I am a self-taught makeup artist and KhalifaBeauty is all about cosmetics and making sure my clients feel beautiful. I work with any clients looking to get glammed up for any occasion.
I’m known for my passion and creativity in makeup. I strive for customer satisfaction and I want my clients to be happy with their makeup because seeing a smile on their face is what makes me keep doing what I love. My style of makeup and the products I use is tailored towards that client, making each one unique in their own way. I love showing them how beautiful they can be with just a touch of makeup and having the confidence that they are beautiful inside and out.
I’m most proud of my hard work and dedication I put into my career. I feel it’s all about my client’s and making sure they receive the best service possible. I always stay educated and up to date with the latest products and trends. I spend hours trying new makeup, styles, and techniques on myself before I do it on clients making sure it’s perfect. Also, being available to my clients whenever they need to get in touch with me whether it’s to book an appointment or just a simple makeup question.
What sets me apart from others is my love for makeup has always been my passion and I wanted to pursue my dream through a career where I can help my community and clients. I take my time and make sure every detail is perfect. I like talking to my clients as I do their makeup because I believe it’s important to get to know your clients and it helps me make sure their makeup is to their style and taste.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
As a little girl attending Indian weddings, I would see all the beautiful brides decked out in their gorgeous dresses and their makeup is done so beautifully. I would always say to myself that I want to be able to professionally do makeup on others on special occasions. I want my clients to feel like drop-dead gorgeous on their big day.
