Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey Bertucci.
Kasey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in Quincy and knew from a young age, I wanted to be a part of the beauty industry. After graduating high school in 2013, I started cosmetology school at Toni & Guy. After completing my program and passing my boards, I started assisting at a local salon as all growing stylists must. I was there for a few years growing, learning, and taking clients. I recently took a job closer to where I now live, at Salon Capri in Dedham’s Legacy Place. Of course, being at a Best of Boston salon means training under them as well. Although I am starting from scratch and assisting again, I feel there is never too much you can learn and improve on.
Has it been a smooth road?
Personally, I struggled with making the choice to take a step back from working behind the chair to assist again at a new salon. However, I do not regret that decision as it will only help me grow as a stylist. I currently take clients in the salon on my days off from apprenticing. My advice to other young women in my field would be to learn as much as you possibly can. In our industry, there is always a new technique or hot trend to try… so take a new class, practice on a mannequin, never stop improving. Always be open to different perspectives and never be afraid to try something new.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Salon Capri story. Tell us more about the business.
I love all things color. From balayage and highlighting, to root shades and fashion tones, I’m always happy to formulate. I am big on textured cuts, beachy waves, and volume. I believe consultations are most important and that communication is the key to any stylist and client relationship.
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
My mom has always been a role model for me. As a business owner herself, she has shown me how hard work pays off. She has always pushed me to be the best that I can. She is my biggest supporter and best friend.
