Today we’d like to introduce you to Vielka Cole.
Vielka, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always worked as a member of a team in a spa or a salon, starting in Florida doing mani/pedi’s, then studied to be an aesthetician and moving to Massachusetts. Most recently, I was an aesthetician in a small salon in Marblehead – focusing on skin care, facials, and waxing. When the owner moved out of state for family reasons, I had a choice to make… And I decided to start my own business, so I could continue to serve my clients locally.
That was almost four years ago, and I now own my own day spa, catering to a loyal set of customers who trust me with their skin care needs.
Has it been a smooth road?
The best part about opening my spa has been the customers! They have stayed very loyal, are all great to work with, and they trust me completely. They also send in their friends and family as referrals – which is great!
The main struggles were just the growing pains of starting something new – Finding a rental space, getting the phones set up, and letting everyone know that I had moved.
I’ve found that patience, commitment and sticking to my goals have really helped me to grown my business and be successful.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Vielka Cole Day Spa story. Tell us more about the business.
Vielka Cole Day Spa is a boutique day spa located in the coastal town of Marblehead, Massachusetts – offering pampering for all of your skincare and personal needs. We don’t offer “standard” services. Instead, all services are tailor-made to your skin. I begin all treatments with an assessment of your needs and concerns in order to craft a treatment that is perfect for you.
Only the best products and most current methods are used. I spend time in training, learning about new products, how they work, and what they do for different types of skin. We are a certified source for Glymed products, offering a custom-made skin regimen for you.
Three main offerings:
1. Facials. Deep cleaning, resurfacing and moisturizing. We use state-of-the art technology and high-end natural products to help your skin look its best. You’ll be treated to a custom facial based on your needs and will leave with an at-home treatment plan in hand.
2. Skin Treatments. We believe your skin needs custom treatments made for you – ultrasound treatments, chemical peels and more. We can address scarring, inflammation, major and minor skin irritation.
3. Waxing & Nails. Full body waxing, manicures & pedicures. We offer these personal services as a convenience to our clients, so you can have all of your personal treatments done in one location.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As people become more health-conscious, they become aware of the food and exercise choices that they make and how it affects their overall well-being, not to mention their skin. I expect this to continue, and to do more coaching around overall health and stress, and how my clients can make better choices for their skin.
There are amazing things happening with the technology in this business too, with new ways to stimulate collagen production for overall skin health.
I have also seen a huge shift toward more natural products, and as people become more educated I expect this trend to continue.
