Meet Wesley Reid of Project 10K Films in Back Bay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wesley Reid.

Wesley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I got to where I am today mainly because of a love for finding passionate people. My partner in this company, Brandon Golden, has always shared the same views as myself on storytelling. We look for the most passionate artists possible that want to convey that passion on the screen. As a producer, I aim to be a fly on the wall. You have to understand and respect what the artist’s vision is and assist the process in as transparent a way as possible. Great film-making comes from an understanding that this is as much as an individual effort as it is a group effort. And when everyone respects their places and roles in the production, the film will be excellent. This is the principle that Brandon Golden and I founded Project 10K Films on.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a fairly smooth road with a few bumpy patches along the way. At the end of the day, funding and budgeting for our films can get tricky. Its part of our jobs to account for that though and so far, knock on wood, we’ve been able to overcome the bumps in the road and put out professional content.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Project 10K Films – what should we know?
We are a production company that specializes in feature film making. Our first feature film, ‘Barren Trees’, received two distribution deals. You can find us streaming now on Amazon Prime. Our company is most proud of the direction that we are taking within film making. We are staying true to our principle of seeking out artists that want to express their passion through the medium of film making. Our next project, ‘Indomitable’, is set to release in 2019. It is a documentary made by an incredible film maker Alexander Freeman who suffers from cerebral palsay. The documentary is narrated by Academy Award winning actor Chris Cooper and tells a story about the triumphant lives of people struggling with disabilities. As much as I would like to go into it, the story on screen will convey what I am not fully able to through text. It is an incredible project.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would say that my business partner in this company Brandon Golden has facilitated what I have wanted to do since day one. He has taught me so much about the industry and I am so thankful to have a business partner that I am always learning from and bouncing ideas off of.
