Today we’d like to introduce you to Liane Moccia.
Liane, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always believed that our bodies were built for optimal health and wellness if supported with the right balance of solutions and tools. This can involve healthy eating, exercise, meditation, and more. When I was pregnant with our twin daughters I started looking at holistic ways to manage my health, as well as the health of our growing family. I soon discovered herbal medicine as a way to help manage the cuts, scrapes, and viral illnesses that are so common with children. But as I learned more and started seeing firsthand the power of plants, I realized I wanted to be more than a “home herbalist”. So after spending twenty years in corporate marketing I jumped into my herbal education.
What I found most exciting about herbalism was how herbs can help bring us back into balance so we can feel our best. I was particularly interested in merging traditional herbal knowledge with the latest scientific research. Herbs have been used for thousands of years to help support our energy levels, manage stress, improve our moods, and increase mental clarity. When these areas of our lives are in balance we can experience so much more joy! I decided very early in my training that I would specialize as an herbalist in the areas of stress, energy and mental clarity, mood and sleep.
When I completed my herbal education and training I was excited to open my practice as a certified herbalist in my home town of Andover. Helping people feel less stress, more energy and mental clarity, better moods, and finally get a good night’s sleep through natural, herbal remedies is so rewarding.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The hardest part has been managing my time with the challenges of a young family. My daughters are nine years old, so there are a lot of activities and events to enjoy. I could spend all day reading a new journal article about an herb, experimenting with tea blends, making herbal tinctures, or writing a new class to teach in the office… but I have to balance my passion for herbalism and my clinical practice with the demands of everyday life. Sometimes I can’t move forward in my business as fast as I would like, but I keep the big picture in mind. Herbs help me stay energized and balanced as well!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Liane’s Herbal Wellness story. Tell us more about the business.
As a certified herbalist, I help people find natural solutions to their chronic health problems. I specialize in stress, energy and mental clarity, mood, and healthy sleep. This specialization sets me apart from other herbalists or healthcare practitioners. I see so many people who are struggling with fatigue, anxiety, brain fog, mood disorders, and sleep issues. Focusing in these areas allows me to go deep into the root cause for each individual and help them find balance again.
My approach is unique in that I blend traditional herbal knowledge and the latest scientific research with lifestyle and dietary changes to help bring the body back into balance. I have a passion for research and data. It’s important to me that the herbs I work with have been studied for safety and efficacy. I love combining modern science with centuries of traditional herbal remedies for simple, holistic solutions for clients.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I have been very fortunate – my family is healthy and supportive of my career and passions. When I look back at some of the more challenging times I believe they helped spark my passion for healthy, natural, and holistic living For example, we had a difficult time getting pregnant. A year of fertility treatments and looking closely at how to improve our health and the environment around us paved the way for where I am today.
