Art & Life with Matt Link

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Link.

Matt, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m originally from North Myrtle Beach South Carolina. I moved here to the south shore area to join The Elovaters and play bass. I’ve been in this scene 9 years starting out with a band I was in called TreeHouse! I met The Elovaters and crew through my tours with Treehouse! 2017 I took leave from them and worked on myself and my family. And received a call from them about interest in joining. I love these guys and it’s an honor to be back playing especially with these guys! 2018 I got the go ahead and also got to record the new record with them. It’s been really exciting.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I have a message in my hat that says “spread love thru art”. It reminds me to love what I do. I am very grateful for this life. My music has carried me to some amazing places. I’ve been a part of an incredible time. We’ve turned family into jamily. People come out to our shows and I love to connect and hear about why they needed this. The 3+ hours in the car just to see the band. It all became clear that We all had a message. Live art painters at festivals and shows. People with Jewelry, arts & crafts, and education. I started just focusing to own up to my talent. I’m in love with the passion I have for this jamily, family, friends and fans! The Elovaters have exactly what it takes to get your attention. The live shows are incredible. I know we are all excited this year doing many festivals. And have been working hard to provide the experience you enjoy and crave. Be the change. Become inspired. Then start inspiring. That’s what I did and I’m playing with my heroes!

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
Being on the road is tough. We have to leave our lives at home to be out here. It’s a toll on every one of us. Personally, and physically. We all have our off days, but it’s through our fellowship and brotherhood that gets us through it. Traveling is exciting and overwhelming at times. Staying healthy on the road is a must. Proper diet and rest is needed as well. Staying hydrated. Very difficult when your options are slim at 2 am. And of course, the cost. Everyone is trying and finding new ways to save a buck. Traveling is expensive. But we make it work. Teamwork makes dreams work.
