Meet Jodi Raphael of Jodi Raphael Events in Newton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi Raphael.

Jodi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
You could say that I have been planning parties since I was a small child. When my folks came home from a trip, weary from travel- I was known to have a surprise party to welcome them home. Even as young as Kindergarten I invited my classmate’s home for a barbeque complete with entertainment (watching my Mom nurse my newborn brother). That passion to organize the details for a single show continued into my early career as a Television Producer at Channel 5. Events are like live television. You get one chance to get it right. One chance to make my clients happy. There is no “take 2” or “do over”. I love working in that kind of environment.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building and growing Jodi Raphael Events has been incredibly rewarding, but is not without its challenges! I work with some of the best event professionals in Boston that inspire me every day. I also have wonderful clients who honor me by inviting me to share their most important life events. The “road” is different every day and not always as easy as it seems. But we have been growing at a steady deliberate pace for several years now, and so we’ve been able to manage it in a way that keeps the quality of our events high and our clients delighted.

Please tell us about Jodi Raphael Events.
Jodi Raphael Events is a full service event planning company. We specialize planning special occasions for social or corporate clients. We plan parties large and small… each one unique, each one quite special! I am known for listening to my clients and guiding them through the many details involved in the event planning process. We have a very hands on approach from helping locate a venue to the last dance has been played. I am most proud of the relationships I have built along the way and the fact that I started my business with merely a cell phone and a smile over 18 years ago.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
At every event I plan, I take great pride in the emotional connection I feel with my families. It is an honor to be invited to help them plan their biggest life moments. One event that stands out for me was a wedding that I planned at West Point. The family has a long military history; the father of the bride proudly served as a General in the Army. But the family had also lost two sons to war and so part of my role was to help them navigate the details of a wedding that would be filled with so many complicated feelings. The event was magnificent, every detail unfolded perfectly. To be a part of that very joyful and emotional day was one of the proudest moments of my career.
