Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Rivard.
Danielle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Art became a part of me before I could read. My earliest memories depict a little girl scribbling on a jumbo sketch pad. Throughout my life I’ve clung to creativity whether it be through drawing, writing and/or photography.
I studied journalism and art in college. There, I learned more about story telling narratives and conveying them through multiple mediums. This is where I began to fuse my artistic and journalistic skills together.
After college I began my journey as a news reporter. I covered all kinds of stories, especially crime. All the while, I worked as a wedding photography intern for local photographers.
Life’s adventure brought me to California for a few years where I began to build upon my photography portfolio. I interned for a world-class celebrity and fashion photographer in Los Angeles which expanded my photography interests and helped develop my editorial style.
Fusing my artistic nature with my journalistic senses, I created “Danielle Rivard Photography”.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been some struggles.
To name one: Moving my business across the country and having to start a new, wasn’t easy. I have worked hard to connect with other creatives, network and build a client base here in New England.
Danielle Rivard Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am known as a wedding, portrait, fine art and fashion photographer. However, I am like a chameleon, ever evolving and adaptive and open to capturing other aspects of life. I keep an open mind and I’m always learning and experimenting.
With each story I tell, I strive to create striking visuals. I design each shoot solely around the client. For some shoots, I provide artistic direction and for others I simply follow along. No matter what the shoot, I always like to keep the tempo light and fun for everyone.
My style is an eclectic mix of artistic, photojournalistic and editorial with some shades of grey.
Lately my work has focused on deep connections conveyed with an edgy, editorial feel. Those connections are shown not just through my couple portraits (pictured) but also through my (pictured) editorial and maternity portraits as the women are one with nature. The marvelous thing about art is that there are endless possibilities. What sets me apart is my ability to adapt my style to any story. Displayed are fairytale-like pieces to show a glimpse of my imagination. More of my work can be viewed at (www.daniellerivard.com).
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
There isn’t one particular proud moment. My proudest moments are when my clients reach out to me and express their joy over their photographic stories. Even more so, when clients return to have the next chapter in their lives photographed.
