Today we’d like to introduce you to Kait Kingman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was in an abusive relationship for 3 years. I almost lost my job, I lost friends, family and I almost took my life. And I remember thinking “if I’m going through this, other women have to be as well” but not everyone has the support I had, so I created Simply Kaitlin to help women overcome their abusive situations and to empower them to be the best versions of themselves. Six months into going live, I’m helping women worldwide and there’s just a no better feeling.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been anything but smooth. I’ve been mocked, I’ve been put down, I’ve been turned away from jobs all because of this website. My biggest advice is to be authentic and do it for you. Forget everyone who put you down and focuses on those who lift you up.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Simply Kaitlin – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I focus on beauty, lifestyle, and wellness. I’ve written everything from makeup tutorials to recipes, to relationship advice and open letters. I’m most known for my pieces on relationships and abuse. I’m very open about my past and my significant other and I are both very open about our relationship with each other. I think it’s important to be relatable, especially with such a tough topic.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Like I said earlier, be authentic. Know that who you are and what you do is enough and don’t ever try to change to please anyone. You got this!
