Life and Work with Shannon Noel Curtis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Noel Curtis.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been a practicing skincare therapist for almost fourteen years and it has been quite the journey. I have worked at different spas over the years and even taught at an aesthetics school, but nothing felt quite right. I was worried that I would never feel settled. It wasn’t until I started studying herbalism and tying the two practices together that things finally seemed to come together for me. I was not looking for a space at the time, but the universe has a magical way of working sometimes. I found my current space and it immediately felt right, timing is really everything. I continue to grow and educate myself as much as I can and I think that shows through the business.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I started in my early twenties, which is a fun time but also can be a scary time. I had all these expectations for myself which brought on anxiety. If I could offer any advice it would be, to be easy and not put too much pressure on yourself. When I finally ‘let go’ and stopped worrying so much about where I was or where I was going, good things were able to flow through. You can’t rush your way through life, you have to go through the difficult stuff and struggle a bit to really appreciate the good moments when they do arrive. Everything that happens shapes and molds who you are and makes you that much stronger going forward.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Noel Herbal Skincare – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I like to call myself a ‘practicing skincare therapist.’ I specialize in a holistic approach to skin health offering hands-on treatments that offer relaxation and ease to everyday lives. I also have a studio with non-toxic products made by women who have similar beliefs to my own. My idea is to create a space that people can come relax and heal themselves. I want to grow a community of like-minded individuals that can offer healing practices and bring education around self-care. I am not trying to ‘sell’ you on anything, I just want to educate and have people become aware of what is going in and onto their bodies. What sets me apart? Having the knowledge and love for plants that I bring into my practice I can customize and create products during the facials. I love making my own exfoliants, massage oils and masks.

Who have you been inspired by?
I am a very sensitive person. I used to look at this as a bad thing, but now it’s my gift. I do believe my childhood experiences played a role in that and brought me to where I am today.
