Meet Adam Sherman of Voice Lessons Cambridge in Central Square

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Sherman.

Adam, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was a founding member of Boston rock band Private Lightning during the 80’s. When the band signed with A&M Records I began studying voice and worked with three vocal coaches over a period of five years. In 2008 I opened my own voice studio, Voice Lessons Cambridge, with the intention of sharing my years of experience as a vocal student and performer. I have found teaching to be a very rewarding experience and enjoy working with beginners and professionals of all ages. Many of my students have gone on to success in the music business and many have remained friends throughout the years.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been smooth and I have been fortunate.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Voice Lessons Cambridge story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a voice teacher and vocal coach. I also teach guitar to singer-songwriters who want to take their performance skills up a notch. I’m proud to have turned my dream into a successful business. My approach to teaching focuses on body awareness and emphasizes melody and musicality. I see each student is a unique individual and feel my job is to help them embrace their emerging talents.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I would like to continue learning and sharing my experience with students.
