Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariana Iris.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Lil Buddie is a Rottweiler puppy, an invisible, fictional character that I created while telling short stories to my son at bedtime. My son experienced difficulty falling asleep for years. However, I noticed that he enjoyed my short stories so much that he asked for more short stories. He didn’t seem to get enough of Lil Buddie. Sometimes I produced up to 3 or 4 short stories per night. After bath time, he was looking forward to see what Lil Buddie had in store and what he was going to do next. Moreover, what he was going to say. Consequently, bedtime became fun and not such a struggle.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Actually, the short stories were created almost 22 years ago when I first started telling my oldest son short stories. Approximately 14 years ago while sharing the short stories with my youngest son, I attached the name “Lil Buddie” to the fictional character. After many years of working and raising a family, I finally completed Lil Buddie and Me and began the publishing process.
Author – Lil Buddie and Me: A Collection of Short Stories – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
After working many years in biotechnology, bio-pharmaceuticals, and the healthcare industry, I followed my passion for writing. I always wanted to be an author since I was 6 years old. When I was in first grade, my mother discovered that I was not reading on level and needed improvement. Following her discovery, she assigned extra homework for me to improve my reading and comprehension. Therefore, when most kids were enjoying “free time” after school, I was still doing homework. Her persistence helped me evolve into, not just an avid reader, but an avid writer. Lil Buddie and Me: A Collection of Short Stories is fun, entertaining, and educational. It takes the reader through a learning adventure from beginning to end. There are many learning lessons that are nestled throughout the book as well as vocabulary builders full with colorful adjectives. In addition, there is a twist to the collection of stories that enhances Lil Buddie’s understanding of the true meaning of words. The most unique feature that sets my book apart from other children books is that it’s written in dialogue. I realize dialogue is not common in children fiction books. However, I felt it was significant because it provides the reader an opportunity to assume the role of the characters and to participant in the conversations between the two characters- Nile and his imaginary friend, Lil Buddie.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment, so far, has been the evolution of Lil Buddie. It’s amazing how sharing stories with my son at bedtime to help him fall asleep evolved into a book. Initially, it was something to provide warmth and comfort in a loving and nurturing environment and now the concept of my stories is shared with so many others at bedtime, mealtime, or anytime of the day.
