Today we’d like to introduce you to Malinda Macari.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Malinda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My background is marketing, focused on brand and PR. I worked for Stride Rite for almost 10 years and prior to that I was at the Four Seasons in Boston. I was getting tired of corporate life and hitting a glass ceiling. My husband gave me the idea to open Dream. He said I should combine what I know and what I enjoy doing, taking my brand and retail background as well as creating an experience for clients into the wedding industry. I always enjoyed helping others find their dress, perhaps I could do it full time. Upon researching what others shops in the area offered I realized that something was missing. Being personal! This is supposed to be a big moment, finding the dress you’re going to say “I Do” in and yet other shops made you feel rushed, didn’t listen to what you were trying to achieve, you were surrounded by so many other brides and it was just about pushing a dress on you. To me, it’s more than the dress. It’s the journey in finding the dress that makes it special. And so Dream was born! An intimate, personal and unique bridal boutique where every bride works directly with me during a very private appointment surrounded by unique gowns you can’t find in the area.
Has it been a smooth road?
I would say it’s been interesting. The biggest challenge I face is curating my gown selection and brides price shopping or shop crawling. I am not your typical bridal boutique. I truly provide you with a ton of knowledge to help you find the dress and I will say 90% of the time, the bride has found it with me but there is a fear there could be something better so they keep shopping. The challenge is brides’ today fear there is more, or that no way can you find it at the first shop. I always say, if I listen and do my job, we should find the one within 7-10 dresses. It doesn’t take more than that. And again it’s more about that moment! Not like on TV, which really does what I do a disservice as not everyone cries etc. But instead really feeling beautiful and excited in that moment in the dress.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Your Dream Bridal – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My bridal boutique specializes in personal and intimate one-on-one appointments where the bride has my 100% focus and attention and the shop entirely to herself and her friends & family. This is what sets me apart. As well as the gowns I carry. I try to carry unique designers and gowns so brides have something different and better yet, designers that can customize. Which either helps the bride turn her vision into reality or really helps the gown fit well if they have a unique shape.
I also focus only on bridal gowns, veils, sashes and hairpieces. This allows me to remain specialized.
Pricing:
- My gowns range from $2000 – $4000, majority falling between $2500 and $3200.
