Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Nieman.
Anna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was dreaming to be a fashion designer from thirteen years old. I always liked to draw and paint. I’d design while I’d be looking on beautifully patterned fabrics which I was getting as a gifts from my grandmother who lived in northern Russia and I was leaving in Belarus. I ended by becoming an art teacher in Europe and later emigrated to the U.S. in 1991, not speaking English at all, I had the really good luck to find the job of professional fit model, working for some major American clothing companies and learning on the job fashion design and technical design. Eventually I felt confident enough to open my own business. I opened my design studio/boutique in 2010. I started out designing bridal gowns and making them with the help of my talented team. I realized very soon that I had a vision how to dress sophisticated women whose needs were not being addressed by the mainstream fashion industry. I use luxurious fabrics, which people cannot find in department stores. I design clothes to fit my clients’ bodies well. My fashions accommodate women and not the other way around. The result–success! My next goal is to get my designs and vision into department stores. My ultimate goal is to say something new, and to bring to fashion this new approach to the fashion world.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road was not smooth at all! I would say: finding my customers, creating my team, who work for me, financial hardship and much more and important thing is learning from my mistakes, bring me where I am now.

I create collections of special occasion dresses for sophisticated ladies. I work very often with the -mother- of- the brides and mother -of-the-groom. I use beautiful luxurious fabrics and create styles, which elegant and classic. I think this set me apart: artistic approach to design, creating design as an artistic composition.
