Today we’d like to introduce you to Jana Medeiros.
Jana, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I started as a model had the luck to travel all around the globe and learn a lot, after I decide went to fashion school, I always love fashion and my friends always loved my clothing and style, so after graduating I started to work as a fashion stylist. Photography came as result of my experience inside studios I fell in love with the art of photography and started to work with model’s friends and one thing lead to another and here I am.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I like to create images that finds balance in a mix between high class fashion with urban and street, the way they mix together brings certain reality to fashion and editorial photography. My inspirations come from all over, but what inspires me most is the discrete and natural elegance people has and how they use to manifest their inner self. I hope my works helps people to understand that fashion is about people and our need to express our self. I hope people can take away is that we all can be beautiful as long we can be ourselves and not only followers. The work is the result of a many background experiences throughout my life. My focus will be always the people, so I would always do my best to work with creative people, clients that understand this idea and wants to create great images.
The sterotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
I think the biggest challenge for an artist today is to find an audience for our own voice and style and how to connect with the audience. And there’s so many competitions around today so I think this it’s the big financial challenge!
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My work can be available on my website, and Instagram. I think the best way to support my work is by people like you who are out there to seek and expose unique local artist to the public.
