Meet Trailblazer Brittany Lacey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Lacey.

Brittany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Ever since I was a little girl, I had a passion for all things beauty. I always dreamed of being a Boston hairstylist and I did everything I could to make that happen. I worked two jobs while in hair school to pay off my student loan. I worked as an assistant for three years. Which were some of the hardest years thus far? I have been in the chair for about 10 years. I love to continue learning about my profession and from the amazing stylists I am surrounded by.

I am a proud new mom of a beautiful healthy 5-month-old baby girl. At times, it is hard to juggle my career and a new family but I live for it. I absolutely love my life and my career and so thankful for where I am today!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not always been an easy road throughout my career. Especially in the beginning of my time behind the chair, trying to build a clientele wondering if I was good enough to be a Boston stylist. I thought it was a competition and I was losing! After lots of learning about the industry and myself, I figured out that as stylists we work together to make the world beautiful. I can learn from everyone around me and better my relationships with my coworkers, my clients, and myself. To anyone starting out as a hairstylist I would tell them to love what you do, be patient, and believe in your self

We’d love to hear more about Kent Newton Salon.
As a stylist, I love all things hair from haircutting, extensions, hair color, and up styles. I specialize in color and styling. To transform a client and finding the right color for them gives me life. When I can make women feel good about themselves and have them see the beauty I envisioned when they sit in my chair makes me continue to love what I do.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
My grandmother Zelma Lacey has always been my inspiration. She is a woman who always fought for what she believed in while always looking her best! She fought for 30 years to build an assistant living house in Charlestown. Growing up in her home, I was able to see her call every politician and fight for what she believed in all while in a colorful pantsuit and 4-inch heels! After 30 years, they finally built an assistant living home in Charlestown and they named it Zelma Lacey house of Charlestown. Zelma will be 101 years of age this year and she is still as strong and as beautiful than ever!!!
