Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Platt Kankel.
Celeste, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I fell into the fitness industry after college. I was a professional dancer and found that teaching and training clients was a great way to support myself while pursuing my passion, all while realizing how the two go so well together. Fast forward 13 years later, being a fitness professional has become a true passion to me. I have taken all my love and knowledge from my dance training to the fitness world and truly love inspiring others to live a healthy and happy life. I am very lucky to have the most amazing clients at Back Bay Fitness and have recently expanded my reach to inspire people online through my 6-week transformation series.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being in the fitness industry can be challenging, especially with social media. There are so many opinions as well as images to compare yourself to. It’s very easy to go down the rabbit hole and get discouraged. I made a promise to myself that I will only be inspired by social media, rather than compare and feel depressed that I’m not where they are, etc. I challenge all women to approach social media the same way. If you start comparing, then unfollow the person or change your mindset. We are all on this journey of health and wellness, some on a different road, some further down that road, and you will get there your own way.
What should we know about your business? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
With over 13 years in the industry, my specialties are quite extensive, but I truly love giving the client what they want and I will give them what they need. We not only work on your personal goals, but we identify areas of your body that need correcting so that your goals will be achieved faster. I believe in living a life of balance and I carry that into workouts and nutrition guidelines with my clients. There is more to your health and wellness than the hardest workout you have ever done and we work on bringing a balance of that in my programming.
Recently, I have launched the 6-week online Transformation Series, that I’m very proud of because I am able to inspire people around the world to live a happier, healthier life. In 6 weeks, they learn to trick their bodies to burn fat for fuel, challenge their bodies in quick 20 minute workouts that are very effective, and use simple daily mind goals to become a better version of themselves. I have brought all my experience, knowledge and love for healthy living into this 6 weeks, but also show them to live life with balance. We do not deprive ourselves of food (which I see so often in the industry), we do not work out for hours to see results, and we even have a treat a day to keep us human. It has changed so many peoples view on living a healthy lifestyle (while seeing results) that I cannot be more proud of it and all the women that have experienced the 6 weeks. The women then move on to the VIP CLUB which continues the lifestyle, and I love that FINALLY, they see results, but also keep seeing results. I also have a private Facebook community for both the Transformation Series and VIP CLUB and I am blown away by the power of the group and the community we have formed through it. The support, motivation, and commitment they all show through it is truly inspiring.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
My favorite apps include: Productive, Wholesome, and Fitbit. I truly believe in the power of steps and getting 10k steps a day should be on the top of your list each day. Wholesome is great for inspiring you to try new, healthy recipes. Productive keeps me sane by organizing my life. From reminding me to drink more water, to appointments, it keeps being organized in all aspects of my life.
