Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Barror.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Amanda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been in the hair and beauty industry since 2003, and have been the owner of Aqua since it opened in 2008. While growing up in my family’s salon and being surrounded by the business, I have developed an extreme passion for what I do in my career. I strongly believe that the key to success is constant education and keeping up to date with the latest trends and styles. Aqua strives in the importance of each client’s experience to keep our repeatable award winning salon and spa nothing but the best. I always had a fascination with beauty and hair and had always dreamed of working in the salon industry. Since opening Aqua, I am dedicated to providing my guests with nothing but the best and continuing my education with a verity of classes and hair shows. I specialize in coloring, foiling, balayage, ombré, cutting, hair design and I also am a certified hair extension specialist within different extension companies and techniques. I am also certified in multiple color and product lines.
Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part it has been a smooth ride. My biggest struggle I would say was building the brand. When I started out, it was just myself and a friend who came to work for me. It took almost 10 years, but I now have a fully staffed busy salon. With a total of 14 employees. I have grown so much I am proud to say I am soon opening a second location!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I would have to say since the newest technique balayage is such a popular hair trend, we have really worked hard to become the best at it. We continue our education with this specialized technique, and have really separated ourselves from other salons. And also fantasy colors. We constantly have our guests loving this trend as well. All of my stylists are certified and well educated in both of these specialized techniques and I believe that is what sets us apart from the rest.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes. Location. Location. Location. The most important thing with a successful salon in my eyes is the location and parking. I feel that parking is a big part of a business. I have parking at my salon. And it is just one more thing for my clients to love about Aqua.
