Meet Hannah Rose Osofsky of Hannah Rose Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Rose Osofsky.

Hannah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Photography was a hobby that began for me in Middle School. I was born in Northampton, MA which is known for having a great arts community. In the spring of 2016, I started to take photography seriously and started shooting every day, as well as freelancing. I got my first photography internship at PorterHouse Media in the summer of 2016, based in Holyoke, Massachusetts, an independent record label owned by Steve Porter and John Lobello. During the fall of 2017, I went on co-op (I’m a student at Northeastern) at Elevin Studios owned by Eric Levin. Here I assisted in digital photo editing, I managed multiple platforms of professional social media, I assisted regularly on photoshoots, and I absorbed just about everything I could about photography and the industry.

Has it been a smooth road?
On April 27th, 2014, my mom passed away from a brain tumor. Photography really helped me focus my energy on something positive and stay busy. My mom also was really into film photography in her early twenties, and I love looking back at her old photographs. I totally see my eye in her photos.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hannah Rose Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in portrait and event photography, but I’m really passionate about portrait photography. I typically work with young women, and nothing makes me happier than my clients’ reactions when they see their photos! I think what sets me apart from others is that I’m a young women photographer. The photography industry is so saturated with men that a lot of my clients and models I work with tell me that it’s such a relief to be working with a girl their age. I think I’m most proud that I’ve actually stuck with something, and I’m always aiming to better my craft, which I can’t say the same about my studies.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Boston has an amazing arts community. There are always so many new like-minded people for me to meet and interesting individuals to work with. My friend Lauren Marston and I created an all-female artist collective we call, Let’s Shoot Boston. I’ve met so many inspirational women since we started last August, and I don’t know if something like this would ever work out the same way in other cities. On the contrary, I wish nature were a little more accessible, or even parking for that matter. If I could afford to have a car in Boston I would definitely take my business out further.
