Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Bracken.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was in the public relations field and one of the aspects of our job was to plan events for our clients. I decided this was my passion and wanted to start my own business. I first came up with a name and designed a website and reached out to some contacts – the rest is history.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting your own business is never easy and there are always challenges. Being in a service industry, I think one of the biggest struggles is putting a value on something that is not a tangible product. You have to identify concrete reasons why your fee and services are worth it compared to someone else.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about SD Events – what should we know?
We are a small, boutique event planning firm. We work with many different vendors to give our clients a wide range of options and provide onsite staff that has many years and experience and can handle any issues that arise.
I am most proud of the attention to detail and our ability to create a celebration that goes beyond what the client expected. As a result, we have many clients who hire us for all their celebrations. This is not taken for granted and our goal is to have every client walk away wanting to work with us again in the future.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I think my biggest role models are my parents. They are both entrepreneurs and taught me what it takes to build a successful business. I learned that being a business owner is hard work and you need to surround yourself with a great team.
